A train struck and killed 1 person near downtown Austin (Austin, TX)

One person was killed after getting struck by a train near downtown Austin.

As per the initial information, the fatal pedestrian crash took place in the 100 block of West 3rd Street, close to North Lamar at about 12:45 a.m. The early reports showed that a train hit one person. The victim suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.

According to the authorities, it is unknown which railroad provider was involved in the collision. The identity of the deceased will be revealed once the next of kin is notified. No other details are made available.

The incident remains under active review.
