A traffic crash reported in southwest Austin; icy roads possibly the cause (Austin, TX)

A traffic crash was reported Thursday night in southwest Austin that was possibly caused by icy roads.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to a bridge at 5200 W. Highway 290 after getting reports of a motor vehicle accident. They early reports indicated that the crash “may be the result of icing roadway” as the bridge was reportedly iced over.

It is unknown if the accident caused any injuries. A light wintry mix of sleet, rain, freezing rain and snow is falling across central Texas Thursday evening. A Winter Weather Advisory continues for Austin and some areas southeast where light icing in elevated roads remains possible. The advisory is set to expire early Friday morning. No other information is available.

An investigation is underway.
