On Monday, a student was left in critical condition after being struck by a car driven by another student while she was crossing the road in Rochester Hills.
As per the initial information, the pedestrian crash took place at 2:36 p.m. Monday on eastbound Tienken Road near Clear Creek Drive. The preliminary reports showed that a Rochester Hills resident and Stoney Creek High School senior was attempting to cross Tienken Road, approximately a mile from the school when she was hit by a 2006 Hyundai Elantra driven by a 16-year-old Shelby Township boy who is a junior at the high school.
On arrival, paramedics rushed the victim to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition. The reports further revealed that the 16-year-old was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and was uninjured. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be involved in the crash. The speed limit on Tienken Road where the crash occurred is 40 mph.
The incident remains under investigation.
