On Wednesday morning, 36-year-year-old Clinton Jenkins, a resident of Converse, lost his life and his wife suffered injuries after a single-car crash on U.S. Highway 171 near Walmart, north of Many.
The fatal car crash took place a little after 8 a.m. as Jenkins was going north in a 2021 Kia along with his wife. Jenkins’s vehicle reportedly drifted off the road, struck a culvert and overturned. The impact ejected Jenkins from his car as he was not wearing a seatbelt while his wife was properly restrained.
Jenkins succumbed to his injuries at the crash scene. On arrival, paramedics airlifted his wife to Ochsner LSU Health in Shreveport with moderate injuries. Another accident occurred at around the same time also on Highway 171, but further north between Noble and Converse. One of the southbound lanes was shut down, but has reopened now.
The incident remains under active review.
