5 people were hospitalized after a possible street racing crash in Downey.
As per the initial information, the emergency crews actively responded to the area of Imperial Highway and Paramount Boulevard just before 1 a.m. Saturday after receiving reports of a multi-vehicle accident. The preliminary reports indicated that two cars were reportedly street racing when they slammed into another vehicle.
The reports further revealed that the impact of the collision was so strong that debris was scattered all over the intersection. Three cars were wrecked and one rolled over following the violent crash. The victims received serious to moderate injuries. Reports also stated that one person was taken into custody on suspicion of felony reckless driving and hit-and-run.
Witnesses mentioned that they rushed over to the crash scene to help. One of them said that they used their medical training to help out as much as they could. The identities of the injured victims remain unknown at this time.
