A pedestrian, a resident of Lenawee County, was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a truck on Wednesday.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Monroe Post actively responded to the area of M-52, south of M-50 in Franklin Township in northern Lenawee County on reports of an auto-pedestrian crash at around 6:50 a.m. on Oct. 6.
Based on evidence at the scene and witness statements, authorities believe that a GMC pickup was heading south on an unlit section of M-52 when it hit the pedestrian who was walking in the lane of traffic.
On arrival, first responders rushed the pedestrian to ProMedica Charles and Virginia Hickman Hospital in Adrian with life-threatening injuries. The incident led to the closure of M-52 between M-50 and W. Russell Road for almost three hours. The reports also mentioned that the driver of the pickup is fully cooperating with the investigating team.
The Raisin Township Police Department, Michigan State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Tecumseh Fire and Rescue and Lenawee Community Ambulance provided assistance to the troopers at the scene.
An investigation is ongoing.
