A multi-vehicle wreck on I-285 near airport led to minor injuries (Atlanta, GA)

A multi-vehicle accident on I-285 led to minor injuries.

The incident took place at the Washington Road and Camp Creek Parkway exits at about 7:45 a.m. in which two tractor trailers and a car were involved. The preliminary investigation showed that a tractor-trailer caught fire as a result of the wreck. All lanes of Interstate 285 southbound near the Atlanta airport were closed due to the collision.

The incident caused major delays on other interstates. The fire burnt for over an hour as crews from East Point, College Park and other agencies worked to control it. One of the vehicles was a flatbed truck carrying lumber whereas the second semi was carrying 10,000 pounds of candles.

The incident did not led to any serious injuries. One of the drivers was provided medical aid for minor burns at the crash scene. The highway is expected to be shut down for several hours. No other details are available.
