On early Saturday, a 34-year-old Ecorse man lost his life following a multi-vehicle wreck on I-94 in Detroit.
As per the initial information, the fatal three-vehicle pile-up took place at about 1:20 a.m. The early reports indicated that a stolen GMC Terrain was stalled on the westbound side of the freeway, close to Lonyo, blocking the right lane. Just then, a semi-truck with a dovetail stopped to avoid the collision with the GMC whereas a Jeep Wrangler failed to stop in time and crashed into the truck, sending it into the GMC.
The 34-year-old man driving the Jeep was declared dead at a hospital. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. Witnesses informed the officers that they saw two people run from the GMC after the collision. No other details are made available.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
