On early Monday morning, a multi-vehicle accident was reported on I-40W.
As per the initial information, MFD received a call about the crash shortly after 5:30 a.m. Officers actively responded to the area of I-40W, near Chelsea Avenue at about 5:42 a.m. after getting reports of a crash. The preliminary investigation showed that a car drove over a guardrail after crashing into an 18-wheeler.
At this time, it is unknown how many vehicles in total were involved in the wreck. The westbound right lane was shut down, and the right shoulder was also closed as crews worked at the scene.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
