On Thursday morning, several teens sustained injuries following a multi-vehicle accident near 12th Street and Union Hills Road.
As per the initial information, the wreck took place close to North Canyon High School in which three vehicles were involved. Phoenix police and Phoenix fire actively responded to the crash scene at about 7:30 a.m. The preliminary investigation showed that a silver car was going northbound on 12th Street when the driver attempted to turn right onto Union Hills, but collided with a black car as they were making a wide turn, which then resulted in collision with a third vehicle.
One person, a teen boy, had to be taken out from the car. He was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. Two other teen girls were taken to the hospital and they are currently listed in stable condition. An unidentified fourth person also reportedly sustained non-fatal injuries. It is unknown if anyone in other vehicles received injuries or required hospitalization.
The intersection will likely remain blocked for part of the morning during an investigation. The circumstances of the three-vehicle accident remain unclear. It is also unconfirmed if impairment or speed played a part in the wreck.
An investigation is ongoing.
