A motorcyclist killed following an accident in Central Austin (Austin, TX)

On early Thursday morning, a motorcyclist lost his life following a single-vehicle accident in Central Austin.

Austin-Travis County EMS said that the fatal incident took place at about 12:20 a.m. on North Lamar Boulevard near San Gabriel Street. According to the reports, an Austin police officer saw that the motorcyclist lost control and crashed. The officer stopped to perform life-saving measures on the victim.

On arrival, emergency personnel rushed the bike rider to Dell Seton Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. No other vehicles were reportedly involved in the fatal crash. The identity of the deceased will be released after notifying the next of kin.

The incident remains under active review.
