A male pedestrian died after a hit-and-run accident on Tucson’s east side (Tucson, AZ)

On Sunday night, a male pedestrian lost his life after being hit by a vehicle on Tucson’s east side.

As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run accident took place at about 8 p.m. near South Sahuara Avenue and East 22nd Street.  According to eyewitnesses, the man was using a designated crosswalk when he was struck by an unknown vehicle that was heading west on 22nd Street. The TPD confirmed that the man succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

The suspect vehicle fled the scene prior to the arrival of officers. Authorities described the car as a dark-colored sedan or hatchback with significant damage to its hood and windshield. Police are looking for the hit-and-run vehicle. No other details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
