A jeep slammed into a well-known restaurant on Freret Street; driver left the scene (New Orleans, LA)

On early Thursday morning, there were reports that a jeep slammed into a well-known Uptown restaurant on Freret Street, damaging its building.

The early reports showed that a Jeep ran into their courtyard and into their building sometime early Thursday morning after business hours. The reports also revealed that the green jeep ended up in the middle of their outdoor dining space with one wheel up over a short brick wall. It was reportedly said that the crash took out a fire hydrant.

The driver of the jeep left the scene after the collision. The reports also added that the incident happened when the driver backed into the front of the store. It is unclear if anyone was injured following the crash. No other details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
