A hit-and-run crash injured a 10-year-old boy (Sun Valley, NV)

The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office is in search of a hit-and-run driver in a crash that injured a 10-year-old boy on Sunday night.

The incident took place shortly before 7 o’clock in Sun Valley. Authorities said that the boy was riding his bike in his neighborhood and pulled off to the side of the road to let a car pass. The driver waved the boy across the street, but when the boy was in front of the car, the driver hit the gas pedal and struck the boy, and then fled from the scene. Officials only describe the driver as a female. The boy was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and suffered road rash and other injuries.

The authorities will continue to investigate the collision.
