A hit-and-run accident injured a six-year-old child in Knoxville (Knoxville, TN)

A six-year-old child, of Powell, was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center after a hit-and-run accident on Miller Road.

The involved, drive, identified as Amy Cooper, was heading east on Miller Road when she struck the child who was standing near a row of mailboxes on the same road. Cooper then continued going towards and down Norris Freeway. The child was then rushed to the hospital with injuries that are suspected to be serious.

The investigation reports showed that Cooper was found at a local Walmart. Cooper stated that she knew she had struck something, but did not know that it was a person. It is unclear if the driver will face any charges or not.

The incident remains under review.
