A head-on collision killed a motorcyclist in Gardena (Gardena, CA)

On Saturday, one person died after a motorcycle collided head-on with a wrong-way driver on a Gardena Street.

As per the initial information, the fatal motorcycle accident was reported at 11:30 p.m. Saturday on Rosecrans Avenue at Kingsley Drive. The preliminary reports showed that a black Jeep, driven by a female driver, was heading westbound on Rosecrans Avenue when she ran into the center median near Kingsley Drive.

The reports further revealed that she kept on going westbound into oncoming eastbound lanes of traffic where the jeep crashed head-on into a motorcycle traveling eastbound. The motorcyclist was declared deceased at the scene by the officials while the Jeep driver was transported to Harbor General Hospital by medics for evaluation. A Sig Alert was announced that led to the closure of Rosecrans Avenue between Western and Normandie avenues while crews worked at the scene.

The incident remains under review.
