A head-on collision killed 1 person and injured another in southeast Houston (Houston, TX)

On Tuesday, Police confirmed that a woman lost her life after a car swerved into oncoming traffic and crashed into a truck in southeast Houston.

The two-vehicle accident took place in the 9400 block of Winkler Drive at about 11:30 p.m. The preliminary investigation indicated that the driver of a silver sedan collided with a pickup truck head-on. On arrival, emergency crews rushed the driver of the sedan and a female passenger in the vehicle to Memorial Hermann, where the woman succumbed to her injuries.

Officers stated that there were three people in the pickup truck, including a man, a woman and their infant daughter. Investigators mentioned that the driver of the pickup truck received minimal injuries and the 6-month-old remained uninjured, but was transported to the hospital as a precaution. The driver of the sedan may have been intoxicated as officials found alcohol bottles inside the car.

An investigation is ongoing at this time.
