On Tuesday, several people suffered injuries following a four-vehicle accident near Hudsonville.
The incident took place at about 9 a.m. at the intersection of 44th Street and 14th Avenue in Georgetown Township. The preliminary investigation showed that a driver heading north on 14th Avenue ran a red light and went into the intersection. Just then, her car was struck by a driver traveling east on 44th Street.
The woman’s vehicle then crashed into another car heading west on 44th Street. That third vehicle then collided with a fourth car that was stopped at the red light on 14th Street. Officials mentioned that airbags went off in all four vehicles.
A 3-year-old boy from Hudsonville was a passenger in the car that ignored the red light and he was transported to Helen Devos Children’s Hospital with non-critical injuries. The driver, a 28-year-old woman from Hudsonville, was also injured and accompanied the boy in the ambulance.
According to the officials, the driver that was westbound on 44th Street was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening. Two passengers, both children, in that car were also transported to the hospital with minimal injuries. The drivers of the other two cars remained uninjured and they were the sole occupants of their vehicles.
