On Monday night, three people suffered injuries following a fiery two-vehicle crash in New Orleans.
The incident took place at about 11:40 p.m. in which a city bus and a car were involved. A Regional Transit Authority bus was taking a left turn from Orleans Avenue onto North Carrollton Avenue when a car crashed into the side of the bus.
Witness said that “I could see a tiny little flame underneath the bus that I think was the car, then catching the bus on fire,”. “The little tiny flame turned into an outright gigantic fire for a little bit there.” Burnt debris from the accident littered the street.
As per reports, a passenger vehicle ran a red light at the intersection and collided with the bus. There were no passengers on board at the time of the crash. On arrival, medics transported two people in the car and the driver of the bus to the hospital for treatment of their injuries.
The authorities confirmed a citation to the driver of the car. A bystander said that the car must have struck the bus at a high rate of speed. The current condition of the injured victims remain unknown at this time. However, the bus driver may have incurred injuries on her shoulder.
An investigation is ongoing.
