A car hit and killed a 3-year-old child in LaPlace (LaPlace, LA)

On Saturday, a 3-year-old child died after being struck by a car in LaPlace.

Authorities received the reports of the crash at 7:14 p.m. in the 300 block of St. Andrew’s Boulevard. On arrival, first responders found that the child was unconscious and they performed lifesaving measures on the child. The victim was then rushed to Ochsner in LaPlace and then airlifted to University Medical Center. The juvenile was declared deceased at 9:27 p.m.

The driver Brian Weary of Baton Rouge was charged with negligent homicide, careless operation, and no driver’s license. Officials mentioned that distracted driving cause the accident. Bond has not yet been set.

The incident remains under active investigation.
