On Thursday night, a man lost his life while walking his bicycle across the Eastex Freeway and got hit by two vehicles.
As per the initial information, the incident involved four vehicles, including two cars, a bicycle and a work truck. The fatal crash took place shortly after 11:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the freeway near Hopper Road. The preliminary investigation indicated that the first car struck the man as he walked across the main lanes.
The second car managed to avoid hitting the man but ended up hitting his bicycle. Afterwards, the work truck struck the victim a second time. All three drivers reportedly remained at the scene until help arrived. The drivers did not display any signs of intoxication. No charges have been filed at this time.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
