According to the California Highway Patrol, a multi-vehicle accident occurred in Irvine on Saturday.
The crash happened near Jamboree Road at around 4 a.m.
According to the firefighters, 59-year-old Daniel Franco was identified as the victim and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The firefighters used electric saws to cut open the roof of the overturned tractor-trailer and ventilate the fire.
The officials are investigating whether drugs, alcohol, distracted driving, or speed played a factor in the crash.
Some portions of the southbound lanes on the freeway are blocked for further investigation.
No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the Deputies.
