On Wednesday afternoon, a motorcycle accident hospitalized a 26-year-old man in the northwest part of the valley.
Officers actively responded to the area of Sky Pointe Drive under the Elkhorn Drive overpass just before 1 p.m. after getting reports of a traffic collision. The early reports indicated that a 2020 Yamaha R1 was going northbound on Sky Pointe, approaching the Elkhorn overpass in the right of two northbound lanes. At some point, the rider failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and hit the center median.
The vehicle drifted off the road to the left and crashed into a Las Vegas Water Authority water main. On arrival, medics took the motorcyclist by EMS to University Medical Center’s Trauma Unit, where he is listed in critical condition.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
