On early Saturday morning, a 23-year-old Holland man was hospitalized in serious condition after he slammed his car into a cement wall and then got hit by another vehicle when he stepped out of the car.
As per the initial information, the incident took place at about 12:40 a.m. on westbound I-196 near Market Avenue. The preliminary reports showed that the Holland man was driving a BMW when he lost control of his car due to wet roads and rammed into a cement wall. The man then came out of his car and got hit by a westbound Buick.
On arrival, paramedics rushed the man to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Buick, only identified as 37-year-old from Allendale, remained unharmed in the accident. Drugs and alcohol do not seem to have played a role in the collision.
An investigation is ongoing at this time.
