On Tuesday afternoon, a 90-year-old woman, from Las Vegas, lost her life following a traffic collision in the east valley.
As per the initial information, the fatal three-vehicle pile-up took place at around 3:30 p.m. at Tropicana Avenue and Sandhill Road. The preliminary investigation showed that a 2017 Nissan Altima was heading westbound while a 2011 Honda Fit was turning left on a flashing yellow signal. Both the vehicles crashed into each other, sending the Nissan into a 2015 Jeep Cherokee that was stopped at the intersection.
The driver of the Honda, a 90-year-old woman, was rushed to Sunrise Hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the Altima incurred only minor injuries whereas the Jeep driver did not receive any injuries as a result of the wreck. The intersection was closed for several hours as crews worked at the scene. No other details were provided.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
