Authorities identified 87-year-old Mariano Murillo Pulido as the elderly man who lost his life after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday in National City.
The fatal auto-pedestrian crash took place at about 8:20 a.m. on Highland Avenue at East 24th Street. The investigation reports showed that the man was walking southbound in the west crosswalk when a pickup truck failed to yield to the pedestrian while making a left turn on a green light and hit the man.
The victim, identified as Mariano Murillo Pulido, was declared dead at the scene by the officials. His cause of death was due to blunt force injuries. Medical officials have determined the incident as an “accident.” No other details are available.
An investigation is ongoing.
