84-year-old Antonio Garcia Olvera dead after a two-vehicle collision in New Braunfels (New Braunfels, TX)

Officials identified 84-year-old Antonio Garcia Olvera as the man who lost his life following a traffic accident Monday afternoon in New Braunfels.

As per the initial information, the fatal two-vehicle crash was reported at about 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of FM 725 and West Zipp Road. The early reports showed that a dump truck and a pickup truck, which was pulling a trailer, were involved in the collision.

Authorities identified the pickup driver as Antonio Garcia Olvera from New Braunfels. According to the investigators, the dump truck crashed into the side of Olvera’s truck, causing the pickup to flip over onto the driver’s side. Olvera suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.

The 62-year-old man from Seguin driving the dump truck did not receive any injuries as a result of the accident. The road was shut down for several hours as crews worked at the scene. It was back open at about 7 p.m. No other details are made available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
