82-year-old man hospitalized after crashing his vehicle into a building in Knoxville (Knoxville, TN)

On Monday evening, an 82-year-old man suffered injuries after he slammed his vehicle into the side of a building in Knoxville.

As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the area of North Gay Street at West Fifth Avenue at about 5:10 p.m. after getting reports of a single-vehicle crash. The early reports showed that an 82-year-old man was heading west along West Fifth Avenue when he went to turn left onto North Gay Street.

The man failed to negotiate the turn and smashed into the side of the building at 535 N. Gay St. On arrival, medics rushed the man to the University of Tennessee Medical Center with incapacitating injuries. He was the sole occupant of his vehicle. His condition was not known as of Tuesday morning. No other details are available.

The incident remains under investigation.
