On Monday, 81-year-old Louis Flanigan and 80-year-old Inell Flanigan, both from Shreveport, lost their lives while two people suffered injuries following a multi-vehicle accident in north Louisiana.
As per the initial information, the fatal three-vehicle pile-up took place shortly after 4 p.m. on U.S. 84 in DeSoto Parish. The preliminary investigation showed that 81-year-old Louis Flanigan and his wife, 80-year-old Inell Flanigan were traveling east in a 1991 Jaguar XJ6 followed by a 2016 Freightliner.
On the other hand, a 2013 Freightliner was going west on the highway. Flanigans’ car failed to yield before attempting to make a left turn into a private driveway and got struck by the westbound Freightliner. The force of the collision caused the Jaguar to enter the eastbound lane, where it was struck again, by the eastbound Freightliner.
Louis Flanigan and Inell Flanigan succumbed to their injuries after the accident. Both of them were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the wreck. The drivers of the 18-wheelers were buckled up and suffered non-fatal injuries. No additional information has been provided.
An investigation is continuing.
