An 8-year-old boy lost his life following a crash Sunday afternoon in Coconino County.
As per the initial information, the fatal ATV accident took place near Bear Canyon Lake. The early reports indicated that the boy and his family were visiting from Mesa when the incident happened. According to the authorities, the family was at a campsite when they noticed the boy was missing about 1 p.m.
The family immediately informed the camp host they could not find the boy, and the group started looking for him. The officials further mentioned that the boy had taken the family’s ATV. While the group was searching, family members discovered him and the ATV down a steep embankment. The boy was not breathing when the family say him. They rushed the boy to the hospital where he was declared dead. No other information is available.
An investigation is ongoing.
