According to the California Highway Patrol, a hit-and-run accident occurred in San Jose on Monday.
The crash happened on South Jackson Avenue at the on-ramp north of Dobern Avenue at around 7 a.m.
According to the investigators, a 2011 Toyota sedan and a 78-year-old man were involved in the collision.
The officials stated that the driver of the Toyota traveling northbound turned left onto the on-ramp when the driver hit a man in a crosswalk.
A 78-year-old Weishan Xu was identified as the pedestrian who suffered significant injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
No additional information regarding the fatal crash was provided by the authorities.
