Authorities identified 74-year-old Willie Ridley, of Hayward, as the man who lost his life after a traffic collision on June 18 in Fremont.
The authorities actively responded to the area of Paseo Padre Parkway near Puttenham Way after getting reports of a multi-vehicle accident at 9:08 a.m. that day. The investigation reports showed that a Honda Civic and Dodge Charger were traveling nearly side by side on northbound Paseo Padre Parkway when one vehicle veered.
Then, the other vehicle swerved following which both drivers lost control of their cars. The Dodge ended up slamming into a tree in the center median, claiming the life of Ridley. The Honda crossed the center median and collided with two oncoming cars on southbound Paseo Padre Parkway before coming to a stop. No one else besides Ridley sustained significant injuries. Drugs or alcohol were not considered to be involved in the crash. No other details are available.
An investigation is continuing.
