74-year-old Samuel Stevenson dead after a motorcycle crash in Augusta (Augusta, GA)

Authorities identified 74-year-old Samuel Stevenson as the man who lost his life following a traffic collision on Jun. 26 in Augusta.

The fatal motorcycle crash took place in the 5400 block of Deans Bridge Road a little before 8 p.m. According to the investigation reports, Samuel Stevenson failed to maintain control of his motorcycle and crashed for reasons that are yet to be known.

The man died of his injuries after the accident. It is unknown if the motorcycle rider died at the scene or after being taken to the hospital. An autopsy has been scheduled, authorities mentioned. No additional information has been provided.

The crash remains under investigation.
