According to the California Highway Patrol, a hit-and-run accident occurred in Bakersfield on Monday. The crash happened at the intersection of Harris Road at around 6:16 a.m.
According to investigators, an unknown vehicle and a 72-year-old were involved in the collision. The driver of the unknown vehicle traveling eastbound struck a 72-year-old while he was crossing the street.
The officials stated that 72-year-old Stephen Wayne Stith was identified as the unknown pedestrian and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Some portions at the intersection of Harris Road are blocked for further investigation. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident. Additional information regarding the fatal crash is not available.
