DPS Troopers responded to a fatal crash that killed a man from Palestine.
A bicyclist rode out in front of a truck tractor on US 79, a southwest-bound route, at about 3 p.m. Aug 18, according to Corsicana Highway Patrol.
The bicyclist struck the front left of a semi-trailer after the truck driver veered onto the shoulder to avoid the bicyclist.
The bicyclist was identified as 71-year-old Roy McCarty of Palestine. McCarty was transported to Palestine Regional hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The truck driver, John Looney, 51, remained unharmed.
An investigation into the bicycle crash is ongoing.
