71-year-old Eric Nuzie, 66-year-old Karen Nuzie dead, 11-year-old boy injured in a crash (Cherokee County, GA)

Authorities identified 71-year-old Eric Nuzie and 66-year-old Karen Nuzie, both from Tallahassee, Florida, as the victims who lost their lives following a traffic collision that also injured an 11-year-old boy and three others on Sunday in Cherokee County.

The fatal single-vehicle crash took place at about 4:30 p.m. on Yellow Creek Road, outside Ball Ground, Georgia. According to the investigation reports, a Ford F250 was heading south on Yellow Creek Road when it swerved off the roadway and hit a tree. The impact caused extensive damage to the passenger side of the truck cab.

The front right passenger and the right rear passenger, identified as Eric Nuzie and Karen Nuzie, died of their injuries at the scene. According to the officials, the victims were the members of a Florida family in metro Atlanta for a baseball tournament.

An 11-year-old boy was flown to the Children’s Hospital of Atlanta in serious condition. Two other adults were transported to North Fulton Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the pickup incurred only minimal injuries. No other details are made available.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
