According to the Louisiana State Police, a fatal crash killed 71-year-old Antonio William Vega, a resident of Texas.
A single-vehicle crash occurred on the off-ramp from Interstate 10 to US Highway 165 in Jefferson Davis Parish at around 10:30 a.m.
According to the preliminary investigation conducted by the LSP Troop D, vega was travelling east on I-10 in the departure lane for US Highway 165. He was driving a 1997 Peterbilt. Vega failed to notice a right-hand curve and drove off the left side of the road. His vehicle overturned multiple times.
Vega was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police are suspecting speed to be a factor in the crash. Toxicology reports are yet to be analyzed.
The crash is being investigated by the LSP Troop D.
