Officials from the Department of Public Safety report that a fatal motor vehicle accident occurred on Wednesday night on the Northbound Loop 303 near Bell Road approaching Grand Avenue.
Preliminary reports of the DPS officials state that the wrong-way driver, a woman in her seventies, was killed in the accident. The second vehicle was occupied by an adult woman and two young children, all taken to the hospital with severe injuries.
A 2-year-old was initially taken to one hospital in critical condition but was airlifted to Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The second child, an infant, was also taken to the same hospital in serious but stable condition.
DPS officials state that impairment and speed are not believed to be factors. The route is currently closed due to this multi-vehicle accident.
