On Sunday night, a 7-year-old Georgia girl with autism lost her life after getting struck by a vehicle in Acworth.
As per the initial information, the fatal hit-and-run crash took place on New McEver Road east of McEver Woods Drive at about 10:15 p.m. The early reports showed that the girl was walking in the eastbound lane of New McEver Road when a car hit her. She suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.
Reports further stated that the child left her home without her parents knowing. Officers believe that the hit-and-run car likely has front-end damage and is missing a University of Alabama vanity plate that reads “Rammer Jammer.” It may also have damage to one of the headlight assemblies, if not both, officers mentioned. No other details are immediately available.
The incident remains under active review.
