According to the California Highway Patrol, a motorcycle accident occurred on Wolf Drive, which is just south of Retrac Way in unincorporated Nevada county on Sunday.
The officials stated that a 38-year-old was riding a 1994 Suzuki dirt bike with his son sitting in the front holding onto the handlebars.
The man and his son were ejected from the dirt bike following a crash into the tree.
The child suffered major head injuries and was airlifted to UC Davis Medical Center.
The rider was also moderately injured but refused any assistance, according to the CHP officials.
The identity of the victims involved in the crash is awaited by the CHP officials.
No further information regarding the condition of the patient is available.
According to the CHP, the use of drugs or alcohol is not the factor involved in the crash.
