69-Year-Old Man Killed In A Hit-And-Run Crash In Santa Cruz (Santa Cruz, CA)

According to the California Highway Police, a hit-and-run crash was reported in Santa Cruz on Sunday. 

The officials stated that a 69-year-old man in a motorized wheelchair was trying to cross Capitola Road when a 1999 Mercedes-Benz struck the man. The driver of the vehicle did not stop to render aid and fled the scene. 

The officials stated that the collision happened in the area of Capitola Road and 7th avenue at around 10:10 p.m. 

The injured victim was rushed to Natividad Medical Center in Salinas with life-threatening injuries. The authorities later declared him dead. 

The driver of the Mercedes-Benz, 39-year-old Jessica Thompson was arrested by the police. 

The CHP booked Jessica on charges of felony, driving under the influence, hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter.
