69-year-old man in critical condition after a traffic accident in Saugus (Santa Clarita, CA)

A 69-year-old man received critical injuries after a series of accidents Tuesday morning in Saugus.

As per the initial information, the authorities actively responded to the “four corners” intersection of Soledad Canyon Road, Bouquet Canyon Road, and Valencia Boulevard at about 9:15 a.m. on reports of a traffic collision. According to the authorities, the incident began when a man about 69 years old pulled into the Chevron to get gas.

As the male stepped out of the vehicle to pump gas, the vehicle began to roll back. The male re-entered the vehicle and tried to break, however accelerated instead, reversing into oncoming traffic. The man’s SUV was struck by an oncoming vehicle. At some point, he was thrown from the vehicle, and was then run down by his own vehicle. The 69-year-old man was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. No other information is available.

The incident remains under investigation.
