68-year-old Roberto Luna died after a traffic accident in Saugus (Santa Clarita, CA)

Authorities identified 68-year-old Roberto Luna, of Palmdale, as the man who lost his life following a crash on July 12 in Saugus.

The fatal traffic accident was reported at the “four corners” intersection of Soledad Canyon Road, Bouquet Canyon Road and Valencia Boulevard in Saugus. Crews actively responded to the scene at about 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 12.

According to the officials, the incident began to unfold when Luna pulled into the Chevron gas station to fill his tank. As the male came of the vehicle to pump gas, the vehicle started to roll back. The male re-entered the vehicle and tried to brake, however accelerated instead, reversing into oncoming traffic.

Luna’s SUV was hit by an oncoming vehicle, and at some point, the man was thrown and run down by his own vehicle. Luna was rushed to the hospital in critical condition and died of his injuries several hours later. No other details are available.

An investigation is ongoing.
