66-year-old woman killed after a hit-and-run crash in Yakima (Yakima, WA)

On Saturday, a 66-year-old woman died following a two-vehicle accident in Yakima.

As per the initial information, officers actively responded to the 11000 Block of Summitview Avenue at approximately 10:30 a.m. after getting reports of a hit-and-run crash. The preliminary investigation indicated that the woman was riding a bicycle westbound off the roadway near the fog line.

On the other hand, a car was going in the same direction when it went over the line and struck the bicyclist. The bicycle rider died of her injuries at the scene. The driver of the involved vehicle fled the scene after the collision.

Witness chased the vehicle but they lost sight of it around the 13000 Block of Summitview Avenue. They informed the officers that the vehicle is a maroon-colored GMC Sierra or Denali-style pickup. Authorities stated that the vehicle will have fresh damage on the front right side. No further details were provided.

The incident remains under active review.
