Authorities identified 66-year-old Jerome Miller who was killed while seven others received injuries after a tractor-trailer hit several vehicles while driving along Interstate 85 in Fairburn on Thursday afternoon.
The preliminary reports showed that a tractor-trailer was traveling south on I-85, just north of Georgia Highway 74 when traffic in front of it slowed. The reports further stated that the truck was following too close and collided with several vehicles in front. One person, identified as 66-year-old Jerome Miller, was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital where they were later pronounced dead.
Seven others were taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment. The extent of injuries sustained by all the injured victims remains unknown at this time. The Georgia State Patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is assisting with the investigation of this accident. Charges are pending. No other details are provided.
The wreck remains under review.
