65-year-old male pedestrian killed after a hit-and-run accident in Long Beach; tips sought (Long Beach, CA)

A 65-year-old man lost his life after a hit-and-run accident in Long Beach while authorities are seeking tips in identifying the hit-and-run motorist.

The initial reports showed that the man was hit at around 7:50 p.m. Sunday at Willow Street and Myrtle Avenue. The victim was then rushed to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead. The investigation reports further revealed that a red sedan traveling eastbound on Willow Street when it struck the elderly man who was crossing southbound in the unmarked crosswalk at Myrtle Avenue.

The red sedan then left the scene and did not return. As of now, it is unknown if alcohol, drugs, or speed were involved in this crash. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified.

The incident remains under active review.
