63-Year-Old Stephen James Kritz Killed In A Motor Vehicle Crash In San Luis Obispo (San Luis Obispo, CA)

The California Highway Patrol responded to a motor vehicle crash that killed one person in San Luis Obispo.

The victim was identified as 63-year-old Stephen James Kritz from San Luis Obispo. According to CHP Officer Chris Proper, the incident occurred on Saturday at just about 8:14 a.m.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2012 Chevrolet driven by David Downs, 62, veered off the eastbound lane and hit a 2003 Volkswagen driven by Kritz. 

Kritz survived deadly injuries in the crash, according to officials. Downs was transported to Sierra Vista Hospital with life-threatening injuries. 

Downs was booked into jail under DUI and Gross Vehicular manslaughter.
