63-year-old Jeffrey Tenzera dead after a crash on Old Hickory Boulevard; Lamario Hunt arrested (Nashville, TN)

On early Tuesday morning, 63-year-old Jeffrey Tenzera, of Mt. Juliet, was killed while two others suffered injuries following a traffic collision on Old Hickory Boulevard.

The fatal two-vehicle crash took place at 12948 Old Hickory Boulevard at about 1:15 a.m. The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a Cadillac Escalade was going at a high rate of speed when they failed to maintain control of their vehicle, overcorrected, entered the opposite lane of traffic and collided with a Chevrolet.

Reports further added that 44-year-old Lamario Hunt, who was driving a Cadillac Escalade, was passing vehicles on the right shoulder when he drifted off the roadway, overcorrected and hit a vehicle. The driver of the Chevrolet and their passenger, Jeffrey Tenzera, were transported to the hospital with major injuries where Tenzera was pronounced dead.

Both the driver and Tenzera were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision. Just after the accident, Hunt was picked up by a white Dodge Charger and was taken back to his home in Murfreesboro. His wife later took him to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with non-critical injuries.

Officers stated that Hunt displayed signs of impairment at the hospital and a search warrant was issued for a blood sample. Officers also found a large amount of marijuana and a small plastic baggy with a white powdery substance. Lamario Hunt is charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication, vehicular assault, leaving the scene of a crash involving death, leaving the scene of a crash involving injury.

An investigation continues.
