59-year-old Ruben Vicario killed after a hit-and-run collision in El Monte (El Monte, CA)

Officials identified 59-year-old Ruben Vicario as the man who lost his life following a bicycle crash Tuesday in El Monte.

The fatal hit-and-run collision took place on Lower Azusa Road and El Monte Avenue. The preliminary reports showed that a vehicle hit Vicario while he was riding a bicycle. Ruben Vicario, of El Monte, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The involved driver left the scene after the accident. The suspect vehicle was described as a 2019 to 2021 dark-red or burgundy Toyota sedan with front-end damage. No information is available regarding the hit-and-run driver.

The incident remains under active review.
