59-Year-Old Philip Gilyard Killed In Single Vehicle Crash in St. Landry Parish (St. Landry Parish, LA)

Officials are investigating a single vehicle crash in St. Landry Parish that claimed the life of a Leonville man. 

The Louisiana State Police Troop 1 reported that the troopers were notified of the crash at around 4:30 a.m., on Wednesday. 

The victim identified as Philip Gilyard, 59,was pronounced dead at the scene. 

According to the authorities, the crash had occurred on Hwy. 103 at the intersection of Church Road in St. Landry Parish. 

Initial investigation by the police revealed that a Ford F-150 that was traveling north on LA 103, ran a stop sign at the intersection of Church Road for unknown reasons. 

The truck then continued through the intersection and into Bayou Teche. 

The emergency crew arrived and located a body in the water and away from the fully submerged vehicle.
